Community Tasting Note

Wednesday, November 21, 2012 - An iconic American red wine. I very much prefer this to Napa cabernets. After two hour decanting the aromas include red and black berries, forest-y feeling and slightly oaky spices. In the mouth it is rather impressive, dense and structured. This seems more opened than the last time I tasted this (a year before at Ridge's Santa Cruz Mountains estate), but still I very much get a feeling that it's still holding back and showing only glimpses of its potential. Will probably be an excellent wine, but will take many years to mature. Not impossible to drink now though.
