Thursday, February 2, 2017 - 2007 CdP retro (with sushi food pairing) (Streeterville, Chicago): Nose: The nose shows a riper, yet somewhat savory side with licorice, raspberries, leather tones, spice notes, dark red cherries, liqueur tones, and some plums. There is some balance here, but it is lacking some depth.

Taste: Medium bodied with medium tannins. The tannins are silky and ripe with a plush quality to the feel along with raspberries, spice tones, dark red cherries, licorice, and liqueur tones.

Overall: This was a very good Chateauneuf du Pape. It was showing on the riper side, but it lacked some depth and expression that would've really driven it.
