Monday, September 23, 2019 - Pausing for the Cause 2019 (Chicago, IL): I really wanted to like this more as this is one of my favourite CdPs, and although this is outstanding in the context of one of the worst vintage/region pairings in my lifetime so far, this wine just comes off a little too spoofy. Lots of black cherry liqueur and other sweet-black-fruit-related things. Tons of them, in fact. The palate is pretty heady and dense, and there's a very slight bit of roastedness here. However, the fruit is still fairly well-delineated and this wine hasn't started to show any decaying fruit flavours (so many other 2007s have at least one foot in the grave already).

6/10/2020 7:30:00 AM - Parker gave the 2007 CdP vintage 98 points. He gave this wine 100 points (WS 99, Vinous 97), and more impressively, Jancis Robinson gave it 19/20. I haven't tried this, but I'm curious about your "worst vintage/region pairing" remark.
