Saturday, March 7, 2009 - Yet another example of how great this winery is. The 1999 La Joie was subtle and refined yet beautifully complex. We drank this after a 2003 silver oak napa valley and there was no comparison. Good black fruit and oak on the nose though maybe heavy on the oak. Medium to long finish. Perfect pairing for the lamb chops I served. Unlike the boring and meaty silver oak this wine was sophisticated and lively. Only negative is that It didn't have the huge fruit nose like the 2002 la joie has. But very enjoyable.
