92 Points

Monday, February 8, 2016 - Given about 2 hours of air in a decanter before drinking. Lovely nose - full of gravel, ripe dark berries. On the palate, this was a little more restrained and closed, and perhaps needed more air to really show its stuff. Plenty of dark fruit, hints of anise. Still, the wine showed admirably, full of structure and balance. I love the fruit in this wine, just perfectly in harmony with everything else. Nicely integrated at this point, with lush and silky tannins. This is still young IMO, and will really hit its stride in 5-10. Although enjoyable and interesting to try from a development standpoint, I really feel that this bottle was opened a little early, and hence, didn't get to show what all the fuss is about. 92 for now, 95+ in 5-10 years.
