96 Points

Sunday, February 5, 2012 - Gorgeous aromas of dark fruit, spice, tobacco and a hint of vanilla. Medium-to-full-bodied, with layer upon layer of subtle fruit, spice and sweet tobacco flavors. The tannins are ultra-fine and linger beautifully on the long fruit and mineral-tinged finish. A deftly executed "old-school" Brunello that leans ever-so-slightly to the "modern" side, is all about finesse, but is immensely satisfying. The best Brunello I have ever tasted and a wine that definitely lives up to its #11 ranking in Wine Spectator's top 100 of 2009.

1/14/2014 9:02:00 AM - I couldn't agree with you, more, Bam Bam! What is even more surprising, is despite the reviews from WS and JS, this wine still remains under the radar. But that's okay, because it means that there will be more of it for us :)

I've enjoyed this wine in multiple vintages....even 2005! (picked up a 6 pak for a bargain clearance price). 2006 is also going to be special, but is much more tannic, and is at least 2-3 years away from its drinking window.

    Cheers!
