90 Points

Wednesday, August 31, 2011 - Survery Of New World Wines (Bistro 7 (7 N. 3rd St., Philadelphia)): I know these Ridge Chardonnarys have a reputation of being oak bombs, and so obviously this is not going to be everyone's cup of tea. In my view, it is important to clarify a point here. This is not your typical cheaply made California oak monster Chardonnay. This is oaky, yes, but is a well made and enjoyable wine. It is pretty buttery and has some good viscosity. Well balanced all in all. The wine makes no apologies for what it is, and it is understandable if this is not your taste, but I quite enjoy it and it is a nice value.
