Saturday, January 19, 2013 - Drank over two nights, and on the second day this was showing just a notch better than the previous two bottles (see earlier notes). Upon opening with a rather strong green note, the wine takes some time in the decanter to integrate and also gains overall weight. Great pleasure on the second day given a perfect balance with a surprising Margaux like sweetness, and a medium plus finish.
Interestingly, both 99er Bdx I have been drinking recently (the Sociando and the 99 Giscours) would be my absolute top QPR picks in this lower / mid-price Bdx segment, and are way better than what you would expect given the rather ordinary reputation of the vintage.
