Thursday, March 28, 2019 - Judgement of Bishan. Not a fully fair judgement but a judgement nonetheless. Pop and poured. Drank over the next 3+ hours.
Tasted semi-blind as we knew it was one of the wines in the blind line-up.
Appearance is clear, deep intensity, ruby colour. Legs.
Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of green bell peppers, capsicums, black licorice, cassis, blackberries, blackcurrant. Developing.
On the palate, dry, high acidity, medium alcohol (12.5%), chewy though still fine high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of blackberries, blackcurrant, green bell peppers, black licorice, cassis, black earth. Pencil lead and sweet black cherries with more air. Long finish.
Very good quality. Classic lower alcohol aged Left Bank Bordeaux. Stoic and stolid, serious and doesn't bother trying to impress you. Good but easily outshone by the rest of the wines - lowest ranked in the blind line-up for me.
My first time trying a Chatour Latour. Disappointed as I was expecting more fireworks.
