Wednesday, August 28, 2019 - From a half bottle. Certainly better than the Lafite and Margaux 1996. For me this is the best Latour I've had, better than the 1982 which at this stage lacks some intensity and the 1990, which can be variable and often too bretty (way better than the 1985, 1986, 1988, 1995, 1999, 2001, and 2005). Quite a lot going on, blackberry and cherries, cigar, tobacco, leafy notes, oak, leather, and a little brett, this really covers the spectrum of Pauillac and Latour. It was a bit more elegant and softer than I'd expected based on having a taste from a full bottle in 2012, but it could be the age or half bottle format. For my taste, I wouldn't want to drink this any older, and perhaps even a little younger. It seems like a Latour that showed well in its youth compared to the 1995, 2001, and 2005. I feel like I could have drank a whole bottle and want to some time soon, so that seems like a good sign to me.
