Thursday, October 19, 2017 - Wow! What a sophisticated Zin. Smooth, well knit, taut, elegant; a wine that can’t help but slink as it moves. A deep claret that is nevertheless bright and clean. Brown sugar, rhubarb, Draper perfume and black fruits including plum on the attack. Mocha and coffee on the finish. In between, molasses oozes in. Perhaps some dusty rose from the resolved tannins. It’s all good. 71% Zinfandel, 22% Petite Sirah and 7% Carignane. This is a sleeper wine. A fair amount of sediment affixed to the shoulder and lower neck with some pouring out with the final pour. 14.4% alc. With flank steak. Recommended.
