Monday, July 24, 2023 - It is not without some anxiety that I approach these old bottles: have I left them too long? Will all that time have gone to ruin? Thankfully, and almost miraculously, nine years on from the last tasting note, forty-two years on from the vintage and forty or so since acquiring it at the now laughable price of $12.41 a bottle. I note that my notes from 2014 would almost match those of this bottle word for word. Color still brilliant with very little bricking; initial aroma still intoxicatingly cedary and perfumed; abundant bright berry fruit with moderate acidity. Hard to find fault in this wine from a widely disparaged vintage.
