90 Points

Sunday, August 28, 2022 - I picked up a 3 liter of this 12 years ago, and had it temp controlled stored since then, waiting for the wine to be ready and for an appropriate party to serve it. Popped it last night, and the cork came out rather easily. Upon the first taste it was apparent that this wine in this format was peaking. No heat, even though the label read 14.4, all oak was fully integrated, fruit was on the spectrum of red fruit and plums. No tertiary characteristics. The wine showed such pristine balance, drank well on it's own as well as with a myriad of foods at a group gathering. I expected much less from Rodney strong, but it's clear that they chose top quality fruit to put in this estate alexander valley cuvee.
