Monday, May 23, 2011 - Mulberry red, some bricking, with beginning amber tones and rim. Tobacco, earth, super-ripe baked red fruits, varnishy (a pleasant aspect of Draper mature wines for me), almost bretty nose. Sour fruit, brilliant acidity and Bordeaux flavors balancing the Californian fruit/liqueur profile make this a winner. A longggg, beautifully dry finish completes the package. This is decidely at peak and would be fantastic with food. Easy rebuy. Much better the second day, still some fine talcy tannins. This bottle good for another 10 years or so, as Paul's wines always surprise to the upside over time.
