Saturday, March 19, 2011 - I'm not sure the exact vintage where the name of this basic Douro wine changed to just "Crasto", but I think it was a year or two after this vintage. The nose is loaded with bacon fat and spicy fruit. While on the palate there is still fresh fruit, tar, and smoked meat. The finish is a little short, but did lengthen some after a couple hours and has nice spices, cherries, and the acidity to keep it clean. For a wine intended to be consumed young this is holding up very nicely and is a pure pleasure to drink.
