Friday, December 31, 2010 - Purchased in July 2009, was surprised I had yet to even log a note on one of these. I opened this last night, we enjoyed it over dinner but we left about 1/3rd to go today, so over a nice simple lunch of dried apricot, havarti cheese and marconi almonds, I drained most of it for this note. What I consistently get (and appreciate) about Mike's vineyard is the mix of fruit, earth and acidity of this bottling. I have been tracking this wine each vintage, posting notes on it since the 2001 vintage, somehow missing 2002, and then onward through this 2007. Some years have been bigger, in the earlier years some heat mentioned in my notes, but this 2007 doesn't show any of that. Juicy, broad shouldered, the acidity I mentioned is there, along with the boysen and black raspberry. Really went well with my bare bones lunch today. Mike, been another great year buying and drinking your wines, look forward to another in 2011.
