Friday, July 10, 2015 - Working my way through some old-ish bottles, last spin with this one was late 2012. Opened this about 2 hrs ago, put a light chill to it and then poured off a taste just now. This is good. Lots of fresh berry fruit here still, plenty of spice and some zesty quality while cool. As it warms, the fruit takes center stage and then some tannin emerges. There is some structure hanging around here, some acidity too which is kind of where I was going with the 'spicy' remark. I don't see any fade or secondary notes in this wine, remains quite lively. it's not lithe or lean, but it does have a good amount of freshness still here. Retried over dinner, no real change and the bottle remained with the host so nothing to re-taste. My thinking is that this wine is ready to go, and like other 2007s, I'd enjoy these now and catch them at their pinnacle.
