Thursday, July 23, 2009 - Mondavi To Kalon Fume Blanc just does it for me like no other. Had the '06 at the Winery(went back a second day JUST for this wine) and it rocked! This is my last bottle of '01, and it continues to be super tasty. It's all about this exotic tropical fruit and spice that you get in no other Calif SB. Coconut oil, banana creme, pineapple, lemon tart, grapefruit...creamy, yet cut with super mineral stone and lemon acidity. This 8 year old SB is fresh as ever, yet has some nice complexed age notes of hazelnut butter, baked apple, toasted marshmallow, marzipan. All still alive as ever.....fresh and tasty. Love this wine.....and the I BLOCK is even better!?!?!?!?
