Tuesday, September 20, 2011 - Chablis and Champagne 19-22.09.2011; 9/19/2011-9/22/2011: 80% barrel fermentation. The scent purrs up out of the glass as effortlessly as a Rolls Royce: big, fat, slow, sleek, massive, inevitable. Sweet, surprising entry (white peach, tangerine, nectarine); prickling, almost "sparkling" acidity; literally mouth-watering finish, only medium-long at this infant stage. Massive, dense texture, hard to believe it only has 12,5% alc (I guessed 13,5%, and have had many skinnier New World Chardonnays with 14,5%). Hard to believe this will close down (surely it will!) given its accessibility today. €49,30 au chai. 94P(+)
