Thursday, April 21, 2011 - This was really nice, and a good step up from the '06. Beautiful, translucent ruby-violet in the glass, and giving off a big nose of dark fruits and spring flowers from the initial pour. Lush mouthfeel, with vanilla and a spicy oak note overlaying a wealth of rich CA fruit. Just a little chocolate on the finish, but definitely not a chocolate shake. The vanilla might be a bit prominent for some, but I didn't mind it and would also expect it to fade a bit with more time in bottle. Again, this was really enjoyable to my palate and I'll be looking to add more to the cellar.
