Sunday, April 20, 2014 - Translucent ruby red color with almost colorless rim. Really heavily cherry-driven nose with aromas of very ripe red cherry, almost cherry marmalade with notes of truffle and smoky earth. Dry and moderately full-bodied on the palate with rich cherry flavors, spicy oak, some chocolate and hints of minerality. Good acidity, but the tannins, albeit ample, are a bit too soft and mellow for what I'd expect for a Nebbiolo. The finish is rich and complex with persistent dry flavors of ripe cherries, bitter spices, some oaky chocolate, a little toffee and hints of sour cherry bitterness.

A smooth, rich and surprisingly soft Barbaresco from the easier-to-approach end. Lots of good varietal typicity with great balanced acidity, but overall the wine feels a bit too ripe and oaky for my taste with a bit too mellow tannins. Overall a rather polished and thus a bit characterless effort that most likely is better fit for earlier enjoyment than for cellaring. Good with food, but doesn't have much of stuff to remember. Somewhat worth its price at 26,90€, but I've had better.
