Saturday, March 2, 2013 - If it was served blind, wouldn't have guessed this is a 24-year-old gem. Dark ruby red, with no bricking on the rim, fantastic nose of cassis, green pepper, earth, pencil lead, asian spice and vanilla on the nose. Entry to the palate is gentle and smooth, with notes of plum, tobacco leaf and burnt cherry. You can still feel the tannins coasting the palate, but its soft and gracefully tasty. The finish of this medium/full bodied gem is filled with tobacco and a light touch of marmalade. This treat is simply brilliant, and the bottle condition was impeccable, certainly an important factor.

The wine keeps evolving thru the evening, adding some secondary nuances, chocolate, cigar box, burnt leather, with a hint of bitterness.
