All of the elements of a great wine were present, but they never came together in an integrated way: when the aroma was at its peak, the mouthfeel was slightly off, and vice versa. It did build towards cohesion throughout the night—helped no doubt by a pappardelle bolognese and a steak with mushrooms—but at the end of the evening I was left feeling like this was a little past its prime.
