90 Points

Saturday, October 14, 2017 - One of the better Bordeaux’s from the 2006 vintage I’ve had to date; a pleasant surprise. Seems to be starting to hit its stride. Bottle label indicates this is 100% Merlot. Decanted and enjoyed with a dinner of marinated bourbon glazed grilled pork loin, baked potato, and sautéed spinach.

Medium body, still youthful ruby color. Fantastic aromatics reflecting sweet ripe cherries, smoky red berries, cedar oak, bitter chocolate, taunt leather, and some faint dried herbs. Similar flavor profile, dry in the mouth, supported by a solid structured foundation: tannins, acid; and oak, all of which are on their way to seemless integration. Medium plus finish; worked well with he food. I think this will continue to improve over the next 5-7 years, but like most Bordeaux’s, patience is required..
