Tuesday, May 4, 2010 - Popped and poured, then drank over a few hours. Dark purple color, nose of plummy red fruit, a lot of white pepper, and smoke -- you can tell has seen oak, but it's not overpowering. Gets better on the palate, where the fruit comes in more and integrates nicely with the spice. Reasonably full bodied but not huge, with some tannin on the back end and a nice oaky finish. This got better with a little air; the pepper faded and the fruit came to the front. Probably could use decanting, and I bet it would improve with a little age.
