Thursday, July 15, 2010 - Medium dark rather translucent yet dull cherry red. Ripe, thick skinned cherry and cranberry fruit along with earthy underbrush, Good-n-Plenty, an exotic orange zest twist, and a nearly haunting floral element on the nose. This has the combination of subtle yet evident sweetness and silky feminine texture that I associate with Burgundy or perhaps a relatively Burgundian Pinot from the New World. This seems to be getting an unfair beat-down from other tasters, perhaps based on certain expectations for a highly scored Syrah based wine.
