Monday, July 1, 2019 - Dunn's 1987 Howell Mountain is everything you want in an old Napa Cabernet. Evolving throughout the night, out of the gate this showed soaring, savory eucalyptus and coffee notes. With air the greenness faded to reveal a complex, deep dark fruited nose. A silky, gorgeous texture carries dark fruit flavors with a killer mineral lift. Soft, mostly resolved tannins. A slightly clipped finish shows the bottle's age and suggests any remaining should be drunk up in the near to medium term. Excellent.
