Friday, October 28, 2022 - Champagne Day 2022! A good reason for a bottle of our favorite rosé Champagne.
Based on the "A61" cork marking we know that this bottle was disgorged in the first quarter of 2016 -- I wish that all champagne producers put this info on the back label. As usual, we allowed this bottle to slo-ox for about 10 minutes which allowed the wine to "calm down" thus increasing the perception of red fruits and allowing the mousse to become creamier. The wine continued to improve a bit, but this bottle never reached the heights of some previous bottles as it just seemed to lack a bit of freshness. We continue to consider this our go-to rosé champagne but remain concerned about the wide bottle variation that we, and others, seem to have been experiencing.
