90 Points

Saturday, July 8, 2017 - PnP. Much better than our last bottle on 12/18/16, but still showing bottle age. The color was a golden/red, and the red fruit aromas were somewhat muted. These red fruits of cherry and raspberry carried over to the palate, with a touch of yeast. The mousse was fine and lively, and the acidity was spot on. One of our favorite champagnes, and our absolute favorite rose (because it is 100% pinot via saignee), but showing some age tonight. Last of three bottles purchased at auction. Would love to know how to determine the disgorgement dates of these champagnes.

7/10/2017 2:38:00 PM - Depending on the producer the information could come out of three different places on the bottle.
Sometimes the cork holds four digits indicating year and month or quarter of year it was being corked (hence the disgorgement time). Or there could be a printed 'code' on the neck label or back label where you could interpret the date of disgorgement, the information could also be etched (very thin) onto the glass holding a 'code' that normally includes the date of disgorgement.

If you can find any of that and write it here I could try and help. If no code is to be found, then looking at the cork and its profile would be the last way to make a qualified guess...

7/10/2017 3:10:00 PM - Hi thewiz -- Thank you for responding to my inquiry. Since originally requesting disgorgement date info in my TN on 12/18/16, I've consumed all of the "older" bottles of L-P Rose. However, while I didn't find any codes printed on front or back labels, I did find a code etched into the bottle below the back label. The code on one of the older bottles was: L23PY108492. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
