Surprisingly deep and dark color for a rosé bubbly: somewhat bronze-toned dark peach orange color. The nose is rich and quite powerful with a subtly reductive note of gunpowder, revealing notes of cherries, tart red fruits and a hint of red apples underneath. Feels more fruit-forward than toasty. The wine feels quite full-bodied and vinous on the palate with rich flavors of cherries, some tart cranberries, light toasty autolysis, a little bit of strawberry marmalade and a hint of tangy mineral brightness. Overall the wine feels very structured with rich, somewhat aggressively fizzy and persistent mousse and high, racy acidity. The finish is juicy, long and quite spicy with rich flavors of cherries, some earthy Pinosity, a little bit of juicy strawberry-driven sweeter fruit, a hint of ripe green apples and a touch of chalky minerality.

A surprisingly big, serious and vinous rosé Champagne that seems to be more about heft and structure than of those delicate and refreshing qualities so many producers seek in their pink bubblies. I prefer this kind of more substantial style. Impressive and delicious, a notch or two above the regular white NV Cuvée of Laurent-Perrier.
