Thursday, December 24, 2020 - I was quite keen to try this wine. I am loathe to be too critical of a wine that so many drinkers obviously enjoy so much and it is possible I picked up a bottle that wasn't in its prime (although there were no obvious issues, such as cork taint). I found this wine to be quite ordinary fare. Bronze colour, some brioche and strawberry, slightly short finish, a not especially fine bead and it lacked vivacity. Also not noticeably present was the creamy mouthful of which some speak. As I say, with a wine produced in this volume, I may just have picked up a tired bottle, or one from a less good batch. However, I won't be going back. There is more interesting and enjoyable drinking in this style. I would drink Billecart-Salmon, Bollinger, or some Oz or NZ rose styles ahead of this.
