89 Points

Thursday, December 31, 2020 - Our "go-to" Rose Champagne. We've had this champagne many times, but with widely varying results. Our CT scores range from 87 to 92 and, I believe, have some relationship to the disgorgement date, i.e., the freshness of the wine.
After opening this bottle we allowed it to slo-ox for about 15 minutes which, as in the past, allowed the wine to open. I put the cork aside without checking the disgorgement date.
The red fruits that we encountered on both the nose and palate were quite muted, and did not improve with additional air time. This affected our enjoyment of the wine as these elements are what draw us in. The mousse was creamy but lively, and the acidity was solid.
After a while I checked out the cork and discovered that this bottle had been disgorged in the second quarter of 2013, potentially reinforcing our "freshness theory". I, for one, am happy that there is a movement to encourage Champagne producers to put the disgorgement date on the back label in the hopes of avoiding less than enjoyable drinking experiences.
