Sunday, January 4, 2009 - Boating party with the monthly group (One Degree Fifteen, Sentosa): Medium-sized bead, but rather frothy, salmon pink in colour. Nose opened with yeast and bread dominant and just the slightest bit of cherry marking it as a rose rather than a normal Brut. Palate was very dry, with ripe apple and fresh strawberry tones along with a nice seam of mineral especially when the wine moved into the decent finish. I thought it was a bit straightforward at first, although very nicely integrated, but the wine showed promises of underlying complexity as it took on some air. This is one NV that could do with a little bottle age. Good - but nowhere near the phenomenal Billecart-Salmon Rose.
