Friday, May 19, 2017 - Drank at La Tour D'Argent Paris - Its not often you get to try a Pomerol from probably the best vintage of the '30s, let alone one that has probably lain undisturbed in this restaurant's cellar since release; apart from perhaps the period when most of the cellar was bricked up to protect the contents during Paris's occupation. Now to the wine, neither corked nor oxidised but clearly showing its age. The initial iron filings on the palate slowly dissipated but never quite disappeared. Very light but still with enough fruit left to hold in the glass for an hour or so. I suspect it wont last another 80 years but I'd love to try one in magnum!
