Friday, April 5, 2024 - Another Wine gathering at RJ’s; 4/4/2024-4/7/2024 (Palmetto Bluff, South Carolina): Mid shoulder fill with remarkably dark color, almost black. Initially a bit of damp cellar but blows off with air. Expressive nose displaying black and blue fruit, dry blackberry, crème de cassis, licorice, eucalyptus, lead pencil, leather, petrol and iron. Excellent concentration, still showing ample black fruit, unctuous, rich and deeply toned, bright acidity, iron mineral, still noticeable soft tannins, and a long ripe black fruit driven finish with iron at the end. The fruit expression is unique, a bit like a pre phylloxera Bordeaux. Perhaps around 93pts but adding a couple more points for the uniqueness and age.
