Tuesday, October 2, 2012 - Still amazingly young. Slight bricking at the edges, but mostly deep garnet, with a nose of cool red fruits and bits of secondary -- leather, forest floor. However the olfactory impression overall was definitely of a much younger wine. On the palate, fresh and balanced, with well-integrated tannins and great length. Very smooth and linear, with a peacock-tail fiinish that made the wine seem to get bigger in the mouth momentarily once it was swallowed. My first 1980 red Burgundy, and it won't be the last.
