Monday, October 4, 2021 - The cork looked at though this wine could have been 2 years old, never mind 20. Great condition. Dense colour, garnet at the very rim, with beautiful flecks of ruby highlights. Great colour for the age. The nose brings an instant smile to my face - the unmistakable scent of classic mature claret. Old dusty leather furniture, Cedar, blackcurrant, cherry, some farmyard, it is quite complex. The palate is alluring, flavours continue from the scent along with a chalky minerality. The finish a of moderate intensity and quite long. Utterly delicious, and I don't remember previous bottles being this good. In a great place. Cellar tracker drinking window is hideously pessimistic, plenty of life in this wine yet. I brought this wine specifically for some wine friends, one of which is just getting into wine, to demonstrate the delights that Bordeaux offers, with patience, and to hopefully guard against all those "drying out" reviews of closed wines, yet to release their full glory. Only 2 of 12 left of these now.
