Monday, November 22, 2021 - I was able to pick up a few bottles of this 1999 when visiting the winery back in early 2019. This is the third I’ve opened since then, and each bottle has been consistent in profile.

Each time I’ve opened one, I’m always shocked how youthful this drinks. Only a small amount of bricking around the rim. Ruby red. The aromas here remind me of a ripe left bank Bordeaux vintage (maybe ‘03?) in that the fruit (mostly red and black dominated) is still sweet mixed with some herbal/earthy flair and the beginnings of leather. Great balance on the palate! Even with a few hours in the decanter this has some gripping tannin showing no signs of falling off in the near future. Red clay, sweet pipe tobacco, roasted black cherries, dark currant and graphite. This would pair great with a filet as the structure is still holding well.
