95 Points

Sunday, December 18, 2022 - Starts out spritzy (et tu, DRC?) and we weren't equipped to do the Mollydooker shake at the restaurant so just gave it a lot of aggressive swirling to chase out the gas. Maybe 15 minutes later it's in the zone. Terrifically dense fruit especially for the vintage where many others are losing freshness but this still has loads of richness, grip, and gloss in its dark blue fruit tones. Serious gravitas here. The muscular tannins and the stemmy spine keep everything packed in quite densely; you can feel an immense amount of torque. It still needs a good amount of time before it pops but that didn't stop the flavors and aromas from getting nice and expressive with some airtime, the green stem segueing to Vosne cinnamon and spice.
