85 Points

Friday, June 30, 2017 - Dinner with Edson (Maybeck): Very limited nose; palate is light bodied, red fruit, medium to medium-plus acid, light tannins, some red fruit but lacks depth and complexity; medium finish. Is this far too young? This doesn't just seem closed though; it seems too simple. 85-

7/1/2017 12:10:00 PM - That may be encouraging then. This was open for a few hours at dinner, but it wasn't decanted or otherwise had a lot of exposure to air. It may well improve, but in this particular setting (with a large group, with many other superb wines), I was not impressed.

7/1/2017 2:50:00 PM - I think that there is a remark in Jasper Morris' book, that Ponsot wine can seem light and uninspiring in youth, much as you described this, but that then, almost miracolously, they can put on weight and become what one expects them to be.
    Which is all very puzzling...
