Saturday, March 5, 2011 - Tried at tasting. Here is what I love most about this wine. We knew it was opened too young. We knew the oak would be a bit off balance. Regardless, it was still spectacular. Unlike other wines where you have *hope* that it will open up well with time, you *know* this wine will be amazing. The nose is intoxicating...the smell was evident from several feet away. From toasty oak to flowers, this was complex from the start. On the palate we got some sweet berries and coffee. The finish lasted close to a minute. At the moment, I have no idea which Tignanello is better: the 06 or the 07. But that says a lot about the consistency of this wine. I guess I will buy both and just wait for them to blow me away in the future.
