Saturday, July 2, 2022 - Thanks to a generous wine-loving friend..after bucket list DRC, Petrus, Le Pin, Masseto, Screagle and Rayas second wine time for me to try Rayas, Asteroide, Krug Mesnil. Back to Screagle…first sip immediately reminded me of Screagle Second Flight (have had the ‘07 and ‘12), or more accurately, a hypothetical cross between Second Flight and Scarecrow. Molten lava, chocolate, plum, raspberry, strawberry, toffee. 15-20 second finish. My wife kept saying “toffee”, but I also picked up red dust and earth (like Scarecrow). (No resemblance to Bevan’s Tench vineyard, which I have drank, and is right next door to Screagle). 97 in the first hour. Very balanced with no hard edges. A bit more closed with alcoholic heat in the second hour, which then dissipated. What a pleasure to drink!
