Community Tasting Note

Friday, July 1, 2011 - {cork, 13.5%} Garnet with a slightly fading rim. Smells quite developed; there's a real cigar-box/sweet compost note to accompany the herb-tinged current/plum aromas. It is a sweetly attractive nose. Typically of this label though, the palate is rather diffuse and transparent; despite its general medium-bodied weight and front-mid palate presence, it fades on the back palate, and the finish isn't that long. Despite their general softness, the dusty cigar-box tannins are the last thing to fade; on the whole its a decent wine which has clearly peaked as far as complexity goes. The blend is CS-Malbec-Merlot this year; this tastes like it has rather a lot of malbec in it. It's an OK wine, but it's hardly going to turn anyone into a Pyrus-fan. Most of the lustre has feded from the Lindemans Coonawarra trio since the turn of the century, sadly.
