Monday, August 1, 2022 - Always a great wine. Tasted side-by-side with the '10 Clos de Beze and the contrasts were apparent. Both great wines but in very different styles. The CSJ was full of flavor but accompanied by a delicate, almost lacy quality. The flavors were of chamomile and sandalwood but there is so much going on, that it is hard to pinpoint particular flavors. It is drinking very nicely but can withstand 10-20 more years. The Beze was a different animal altogether. It was darker in color, aroma and flavor. Darker red fruit, almost compote-like with big brooding flavors underneath that seemed to be straining to come out. This needs at least ten more years and probably more to show at its best but don't pass up an opportunity to try it, whenever that presents itself. It is remarkable wine.
