Saturday, February 24, 2007 - Uncorked for OTBN. Didn’t decant as the initial glass didn’t taste like it had the appropriate stuffing, I was wrong.
A preliminary dusty nose of tobacco, cigar box and some plums evolved for the next 2+ hours, showing some really great complexity and additional notes of barnyard, espresso and bitter chocolate.
Well balanced with nice food-friendly acidity, red fruits (currants, plums) just a hint of sweetness and a very long, soft, still-tannic finish.
We really enjoyed this wine.
