Saturday, October 1, 2011 - Immediately quite expressive out of the glass with noble fungal aromas, sous bois, aged meats, smoke, red cherry (still a very good base of fruit), blood orange and some soil tones weave seamlessly in and out and show good clarity and intensity. The palate is also very well balanced with wonderfully integrated acidity and more than average midpalate sap, mimicking the flavors on the nose. There are also flavors of anise and other spices, along with a carmel/coffee component that really shows interesting contrast with the fresh acidity. Lovely!
