Saturday, August 27, 2011 - Zindfandel and Ribfest 2011 (Judith's House): Dark red/purple color. 2.5 hour decant, and needed a little more to fully open. Blend of 85% Zin, 10% Alicante and 5% Petit Sirah. Nose is blackberry preserves, some blueberry, kirsch, oak. This palate on this seemed a bit lighter initially, but seemed to round up quite a bit after about an additional 30 minutes. Nice core of black fruits, blackberry and black cherry, some spices and oak on the medium plus finish. Started a bit slower than the Geyserville, but then really began to shine. This was my #2 WOTN and group #2 WOTN with 75% of the second place votes.
