Thursday, November 20, 2003 - Tasted from the barrel at the Chateau. Most impressive wine of the trip, already showing a remarkable complexity and silky multi-layered texture. The 2002 Leoville Barton almost seems slightly monolithic in comparison and the 2002 Pontet Canet seems somewhat simple in comparison. In the mouth, dark chocolate and espresso along with rich, voluptuous primary dark fruit. Most impressive in the mouth. Great finish lasting over 30 seconds. They adjourned the tasting and almost had to drag me out of there.
