Saturday, September 12, 2009 - Youthfully dark, with some violet bricking on the edges. Pretty typical Marquis Philips nose. Lots of tar, dark fruit, vanilla and pepper on the nose. Rich, decadent, jammy dark fruit, lots of oak, lots of alcohol. Better balanced than I expected, still too over the top for me, better than later vintages. Fell apart by day 3.
