90 Points

Friday, May 30, 2008 - This wine was brought by some friends to celebrate after the Acker auction in HK and it was very appreciated. This is a wonder Pomerol and its from a yr that not too many remain. The wine looked in excellent condition as was the cork. The wine was purple with garnet meniscus. The bouquet was floral and powerful. We decanted it for 6 hrs prior to drinking. The bouquet has lavender hints with sea grass and olive tree sap. Very complex nose. The wine first sip reveal tobacco and cigar box with earthen tones and wet clay. The fruit was mellowed leading me to believe that this wine is on its downside but it is a pleasure to experience. The midplate has cherry cassis and hint of berry with olives. The finish was very smooth and the wine is almost tannin free. The finish had more smoky hues with olive herbs of basil and fig. The wine was a great treat and I bet in its heyday it was a knockout. Rating today 90. Drink soon.
